Lessons From Gideon

One afternoon, I went into a local Christian bookstore to buy a particular book I wanted. After pulling the book off the shelve I decided to walk down the bible study section just to scan the literature and see if anything caught my eye before heading to the register. I have a few favorite authors I love to keep up with, but life gets busy and I know I miss a few of their books/studies from time to time. What about you? Do you have a favorite author or speaker whom ministers in such a powerful way their voice or words speak to your very core? Well, Priscilla Shirer is one of those speaker/authors to me. You may know her from her recent 2015 film, War Room.  Side note: If you haven't seen the movie, I do recommend it! So as I scanned the aisle, I notice she had a few bible studies that I had not yet read. I'm not sure if it was the bright red letters on the front cover that enticed me to buy or if it was because she wrote it. Either way, I bought this one, Gideon: Your weakness. God’s strength. A couple weeks later I finally opened it and dove right in. I had no idea how just a few short chapters, three to be exact, in the Old Testament, and located in the hidden pages of Judges, could bring about so many amazing and relevant points. I literally filled up the side pages of my bible with notes from all the wisdom I gained from this bible study. I found it to be so impactful that I wanted to share some of what I learned. I hope you'll join me.

Faith does not have a time limit or an age limit. It just has a yes limit.
